Material Overview

ASA-CF is a carbon-fibre reinforced acrylonitrile styrene acrylate thermoplastic developed for rigid and dimensionally stable FDM components. The ASA base provides strong resistance to ultraviolet radiation and outdoor weather exposure, while the carbon-fibre reinforcement increases stiffness, improves dimensional control and produces a uniform matte appearance. Compared with unfilled ASA, carbon-fibre reinforced grades can reduce thermal deformation and warping during production. Final performance depends on the fibre content, selected formulation, geometry, wall design, print orientation, operating environment and production parameters.

APPLICATION

Typical Part Types

Outdoor housings, covers and equipment enclosures

Weather-exposed brackets and mounting components

Automotive mounts, holders and non-safety-critical exterior components

Rigid jigs, fixtures and assembly aids

Sensor housings and protective instrument covers

Machine accessories requiring dimensional stability

Structural frames, supports and equipment interfaces

Functional components requiring a professional matte surface

One-off parts and controlled production runs for outdoor service

Material Selection Note

ASA-CF is suitable where weather resistance, rigidity, dimensional stability and a matte surface are more important than high ductility. Carbon-fibre reinforcement does not automatically improve every mechanical property or every print direction. Parts remain anisotropic, and interlayer performance can be lower than in-plane performance. Gramm reviews the fibre grade, mechanical load, print orientation, outdoor exposure, operating temperature, geometry and dimensional requirements before manufacturing.
