Material Overview

PA6-GF is a glass-fibre reinforced polyamide 6 engineering thermoplastic developed for strong, stiff and dimensionally stable FDM components. The Nylon 6 base provides mechanical durability, wear resistance and useful chemical resistance, while the glass-fibre reinforcement increases rigidity, improves dimensional control and reduces warping compared with many unfilled PA6 grades. PA6-GF is moisture-sensitive, and its stiffness, strength and toughness can change as the material absorbs water. Final performance depends on the glass-fibre content, selected formulation, moisture condition, geometry, wall design, print orientation and production parameters.

APPLICATION

Typical Part Types

Load-bearing brackets, mounts and structural supports

Machine housings, protective covers and equipment enclosures

Manufacturing jigs, fixtures and assembly tools

Bearing housings, guides and mechanical interfaces

Robotic components, gripper structures and equipment mounts

Components exposed to elevated operating temperatures

Pump, valve and fluid-handling components following chemical compatibility review

Non-safety-critical automotive brackets and under-bonnet housings

Dimensionally stable one-off parts and controlled production runs

Material Selection Note

PA6-GF is suitable where high stiffness, mechanical strength, heat resistance and dimensional stability are required. It should not be treated as moisture-invariant or fully isotropic. Water absorption can change component dimensions and mechanical behaviour, while print orientation strongly affects layer strength. Gramm reviews the glass-fibre grade, mechanical load, operating temperature, moisture exposure, chemical environment, geometry and dimensional requirements before manufacturing.
