PC Family

A high-performance polycarbonate-based FDM thermoplastic family used for strong, tough and heat-resistant functional components operating under demanding service conditions.

Material Overview

The PC family covers polycarbonate-based engineering thermoplastics developed for demanding FDM applications. Polycarbonate combines high toughness, impact resistance, mechanical strength and elevated-temperature performance. It is commonly selected when PLA, PETG or standard general-purpose materials cannot provide the required structural or thermal performance. PC requires controlled material drying, stable processing conditions and careful management of part orientation and thermal contraction. Final performance depends on the selected grade, geometry, wall design, print orientation, operating environment and production parameters.

APPLICATION

Typical Part Types

Load-bearing brackets and structural mounting components

Machine housings, guards and protective covers

Fixtures, production tools and assembly aids

Components exposed to elevated operating temperatures

Impact-resistant holders, connectors and equipment mounts

Electrical and electronic housings requiring mechanical durability

Strong one-off parts and controlled production runs

Material Selection Note

PC is suitable where high toughness, impact resistance, mechanical strength and elevated-temperature performance are required. It is more demanding to process than PLA or PETG and is sensitive to moisture, thermal contraction and part orientation. Gramm reviews the mechanical load, operating temperature, environmental exposure, geometry, dimensional requirements and production strategy before manufacturing.
