Material Overview

TPU 64D is a high-hardness thermoplastic polyurethane that bridges the gap between flexible elastomers and rigid engineering plastics. It provides substantially greater rigidity than soft Shore A TPU grades while maintaining a degree of elastic deformation and impact absorption. The material is suitable for industrial components exposed to wear, repeated loading, oils, greases and demanding mechanical service. Final performance depends on the selected formulation, wall thickness, infill structure, part geometry, print orientation and production parameters.

APPLICATION

Typical Part Types

Impact-resistant machine components and protective parts

Durable jigs, fixtures and manufacturing tools

Wear-resistant guides, stops and contact components

Semi-rigid wheels, rollers and drive components

Bushings, couplings and vibration-resistant mounts

Protective housings, guards and equipment covers

Clips, retaining components and flexible locking features

Components exposed to oils, greases and repeated handling

Material Selection Note

TPU 64D is suitable when a component requires greater rigidity than conventional flexible TPU while still benefiting from impact absorption, abrasion resistance and limited elastic deformation. It should not be treated as equivalent to soft TPU 82A. Gramm reviews the required stiffness, deformation, loading, wear conditions, chemical exposure, operating temperature, geometry and dimensional requirements before manufacturing.
